Re: How 1,600 People Went Missing from Our Public Lands Without a Trace

My mom is a green thumb and someone who rescues our plants, "I will be taking this plant with me. You are killing this plant!"

She also talks about them (and to them) as if they are people. "Oh they like this" *spritz spritz with mist bottle* "They really enjoy it.." *keeps misting plants* "NO!! Not that one, he doesn't like water on his head, water at the base.." and I have to tell you, her plants always look amazing. They must like her. I think mine probably talk bad about me all day, "ah...there goes our abuser.. look at her, drinking a glass of water, I haven't a drop in weeks!" "Yeah, me either, hate her so much."

I have a pepper plant that is doing well. I have it on the front porch so I feel guilty when I walk out of the door and it's looking wilted. I go back inside and get some water. If it were on the back deck (out of sight), probably be dead by now.

Remember when we were kids, they used to say that plants do better if you talk to them? Maybe it was an old wives tale, but maybe not!

Maybe you could do some planters in front of your house. My grandma used to have these flower beds built into the foundation of her home but she just used them to grow strawberries. You could grow your stuff and make it look cute at the same time.

Out of sight, out of mind is a real thing.

This is a good idea. I have one of those big box planters when I was doing "square foot gardening" at the townhouse. I've been lazy about setting it up. It's been in our garage since we moved here. Maybe next spring, I'll set it up on the front porch.
