You would be surprised to learn how changing from household water will change your coffee taste.

Try using distilled and see if that helps.

Just sayin' you'll probably get the same results for much cheaper with a standard home water filter.

Dasani's actually bottled in my town. It's so much better than even (my GREAT tap water) because Coke did a study on how water should taste. I think it worked.

I use distilled water and a french press. I order my beans from Stumptown. They roast on the day they ship them. They are ground to the appropriate size with a cheap-o burr grinder I scored at costco. Burr grinders make sure the grind is nice and even, which is important for a nice cup. They get really fuckin expensive, but the expensive ones are really for espresso since it requires a fine consistant grind to do right.

One thing that helped our normal drip pot was a regular douching. The oils in the coffee build up. We also stopped using the pot to pour the water into the thing. That really helped, especially after a cleaning.

I really can't express how fuckin good the Stumptown beans are. They describe the flavors on the site, and I will be damned if you can't actually taste the "citrus finish" - I had no idea coffee could actually have that sort of complex flavor profile (outside of different shades of ass).

If you don't want to pay the premium fresh roasted beans cose, I've found the various whole bean stuff at Costco to be pretty good. Fuck, Dunkin Donuts grounds/beans would be better than Folgers. yick.

Still want to get the Krueger coffee maker, but just havent done it yet.

But anyways, I dropped the Folgers and got some specialty brands, cleaned the coffee pot, used filtered and distilled water and I will say the taste is a hell of alot better.

The gas station I was going to cut out the 38 cent refills, so that pissed me off and decided to quit going there.

What water to ground coffee ratio do you use? I usually make 10 cups when I make a cup. When I do I have been putting in 5 tablespoons of coffee. My wife said its weak like me, but I don't know...when i put more in, it was kinda strong.
