No, but if I start cramping I'd probably drink pickle juice.

Re: Water Fast Thread

The weight loss is significant with fasting, but one thing to keep in mind as you watch the scale numbers drop--roughly 9 lbs for me--is that you'll immediately put on 5-7 lbs once you refeed, so long as you're eating carbs. This is glycogen depletion and restoration, basically water weight. So if you're doing this to hit a certain weight goal, you'll want to adjust that goal down 5-7 lbs.

My protocol:

Warm salt water in the morning.
Two chicory root tablets to feed good gut bacteria.
Multivitamin

It is much easier to kick start a fast if you've been doing a low carb diet for a while, because you'll have been fat adapted and won't suffer the "keto flu" as your body learns to efficiently burn fat for energy. That process can take a couple weeks to a month. I'm tempted after this to continue the momentum with a couple weeks of low carb, but I don't really want to eat that much meat and it's quite difficult to maintain such a diet as a vegan.

Failed. Was too weak to get much done at work, so I decided to end it early. Will probably stay pretty low carb to maintain fat burning.

Re: Water Fast Thread

I'm doing fast all day until dinner time, it wasn't intentional, just worked out that way when I started working again. Now I'm used to it, except right around dinner time I start feeling shaky and a bit cranky, very hungry. I can't imagine going 4 days. That said, I am losing weight. Wish I had a scale, I'm just judging by how my pants are fitting.

Awesome. Are you familiar with the various Intermittent Fasting variations? 16:8, 20:4, One Meal a Day?

Re: Water Fast Thread

I don't know anything about that. But I will look it up.
